Description
The Syrian Negotiation Commission – Geneva Office (SNCGO) is representing and supporting the SNC and its mandate by expanding and facilitating outreach to Syrians and international actors. The SNC works towards a negotiated end to the conflict benefitting the Syrian people through dialogue, peaceful means and democracy in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
The SNCGO seeks to contract a Political Advisor to provide strategic advice on the development and implementation of political strategies and initiatives. The advisor will ensure that the SNCGO work is informed by accurate political analysis and contributes to achieving its objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze political developments, trends, and key issues relevant to the SNCGO work.
Prepare regular reports and briefings on political situations and provide actionable recommendations in line with the SNCGO work, vision and objectives.
Contribute to the development of policies and positions on political issues.
Support the SNCGO to engage effectively with partners and stakeholders to influence political decisions and international opinion.
Qualifications
Advanced degree in political science, international relations, economy, law, or a related field.
At least 7 years of experience in political analysis and strategy development.
An excellent understanding of the Syrian crisis and the Syrian political process.
Proven experience in engaging with political stakeholders and influencing political processes.
Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
Proficiency in English and Arabic is considered an asset.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Deliverables
A periodic report on political developments, trends, and key issues relevant to the Syrian file including recommendations.
A monthly report on stakeholder engagement activities and how the SNC can engage with them.
Ongoing political advice as requested.

As soon as possible/ Mid- August to end of December 2024.
