1. Description
The Syrian Negotiation Commission – Geneva Office (SNCGO) is representing and supporting the SNC and its mandate by expanding and facilitating outreach to Syrians and international actors. The SNC works towards a negotiated end to the conflict benefitting the Syrian people through dialogue, peaceful means and democracy in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
The SNCGO seeks to contract a consultant to facilitate and coordinate meetings and events for the SNC with international and regional stakeholders, with a focus on SNC’s engagement in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
• Liaise between the SNC delegation and the UN community, including follow-up on meetings requests.
• Coordinate the SNC delegation’s outreach and schedule, including meetings, events, and media.
• Prepare necessary material for each meeting, such as bios for delegates and other relevant documents.
• Support with logistics such as, coordination with the hotel, note-taking during meetings and directing delegates to and from meetings.
• Assist with social media production and documentation of outreach.
• Draft and disseminate all follow-up correspondence to Missions and organizations once the high-level week is complete.
• Assist in all other aspects of the delegation’s visit as needed.
3. Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in international relations, communication, advocacy and outreach or any other relevant domain.
• Proven diplomatic experience, notably related to advocacy and outreach.
• Ability to network at the level of diplomatic and international representations.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of international protocols and the ability to coordinate high-level political events effectively.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
4. Deliverables
• Timely communication with stakeholders in line with the SNC objectives.
• Serve as a focal point for meeting preparation and implementation.
• Communicate with diplomatic representatives before, during and after the meetings.
• Prepare a concise weekly report in addition to the minutes of meetings and relevant action points.
5. Contract Duration
Starting as soon as possible/ Mid-August until 31 December 2024.
6. Duty Station
New York.
