SNC President Meets Representatives of CSOs and Academics

SNC President, Dr. Bader Jamous, met on Wednesday several representatives of Syrian society organizations in the SNC Geneva Office. He briefed them on the latest political developments and communicated the SNC’s firm position upholding international resolutions. He further highlighted the importance of collaboration and complementarity between the SNC and CSOs.

In addition to SNC President, SNC member and head of SNC’s Geneva Office took part in the meeting. The meeting also featured attendance of organizations from the Syrian National Dome alliance including Mr. Mohammad Sadiq, General Coordinator of the International Commission for Development and Peace, Dr. Nahed Ghazol, Head of Damascus National Council, Mazen al-Rifae, deputy head of the Syrian community in Romania, and Dr. Ayham al-Ghazzi, former Syrian diplomat.

Dr. Jamous offered an overview of the SNC’s endeavors at Arab and international levels in order to mobilize efforts to find mechanisms which would put an end to the regime’s evasion of its commitments as per international resolutions to compel it to engage in a political solution based on international resolutions, most importantly Geneva Communique and UNSCR 2254.

He pointed out that it was essential to establish collaboration between the SNC and CSOs to join efforts of all Syrians to highlight their collective efforts towards a negotiated political solution based on international resolutions and their work for issues related to detainees and forcibly disappeared persons and transitional justice mechanisms. He affirmed that the SNC was open to all views that may serve the political process and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people.
