SNC President, Dr. Bader Jamous, along with a delegation of SNC members, met on Tuesday the UK Special Envoy for Syria, Ann Snow.
They discussed the situation in Syria and the UK firm unwavering stance towards the Syrian issue rejecting any normalization with the Syrian regime unless it abides by a political solution based on international resolutions.
During the meeting on the sidelines of Brussels VIII on Supporting the Future of Syria, the SNC President stressed that the humanitarian, economic and security situation is so critical that the continued stalling by the regime would lead the country to further and larger disasters as the regime has become a destabilizing power in the Middle East. He emphasized that the SNC was adamant on holding on to international resolutions and a political solution based on UNSCR 2254.
In his conversation with Ms. Snow, Dr. Jamous tackled the general situation inside Syria highlighting the peaceful movement in Suweida which he stressed was a significant indicator that Syrians would not give up demanding dignity, freedom and a state of law and that they innovate many peaceful means and mechanisms to assert their determination to see through their demands.
Ms. Snow affirmed that no normalization of any kind or scale with the Syrian regime was in place and that the UK will not support any party in such endeavors. The UK, she said, was focused on the political track and believed that a peaceful negotiated political transition in accordance with UNSCR 2254 was the sole and necessary pathway. She also pointed out her country’s support of the peaceful movement in Suweida and other areas against the Syrian regime and the importance of holding to account all those who committed crimes against the Syrian people.
