The Syrian Negotiation Commission is seeking to hire a professional translator/interpreter to provide written translation and simultaneous and consecutive interpretation as per the following:

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly under the supervision of the SNC’s Leadership.
• Accompany the SNC’s leadership/delegations in meetings to provide simultaneous interpretating.
• Provide written translation from Arabic to English and/or English to Arabic.
• Review and edit translated materials to ensure accuracy of language, meaning and grammar.
• Ensure appropriate translation based on the SNC needs and according to the cultural and geopolitical context.
• Support the SNC Media Team in translating various media content.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in translation, interpreting or language studies.
• Proven experience related to translation and interpreting.
• Knowledge related to the Syrian file and/or the MENA context.
• Excellent written and spoken Arabic and English.
• Attention to details.
• Ability to respect tight deadlines.
• Good sense of communication.

Contract Duration

1 June 2024 – 31 May 2025
