In his meeting with the Director of Arab Affairs Department at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nayef Abdulla Al-Emadi, in Doha today, SNC President, Dr. Bader Jamous, discussed the latest developments in the political solution pathway in Syria and the SNC’s endeavors at the Arab and international levels to advance that process.
SNC President highly valued the role of Qatar in support of the political solution in Syria through the implementation of international resolutions relevant to Syria, most importantly the Geneva Communique and UNSCR 2254 and its constant support for the Syrian people in their humanitarian crisis.
Dr. Jamous reviewed with the Qatari diplomat the firm positions of European states and their rejection of normalization with the Syrian regime without serious and tangible steps towards a political solution in addition to the outcomes of the SNC’s meetings on the sideline of Brussels VIII on Supporting the Future of Syria. He further discussed the endeavors which the SNC is pursuing at the regional and Arab levels in order to end the regime’s evasion of its obligations for a political solution.
On his part, Ambassador Al-Emadi affirmed his country’s firm position towards the Syrian issue and its support of the legitimate demands of the Syrian people, namely freedom, justice and security. He further emphasized that Qatar supports the full and strict implementation of UNSCR 2254 without stalling or waste of time as this is destabilizing for Syria.
